Kent Dual Drive Tandem Comfort Bike Review
The look of Kent Dual Drive Tandem bike is actually very attractive especially compared to most tandem bikes which tend to be very linear and bulky looking. This is much smoother with great lines. The silver fades into a gun-metal grey with a few red accents and black grips, seats, tires, bottles etc… Overall a very pleasing appearance albeit a bit retro.
Shifters are in the handle and smooth enough. One handle does the big shifting and the other handle fine tunes the shifting. The brakes are sufficient but not disc brakes but rather those little “v” brakes. Tires are large enough to give a smooth ride and in fact, were surprisingly easy to handle and navigate. You won’t be taking quick turns with this as the bike is long but then again, it’s not really designed with racing in mind.
The ride is smooth – much smoother than expected. Great cruiser. Can actually reach a decent speed but be sure to have plenty of braking space and don’t take tight corners at the high speeds. All in all, a lot of fun for a couple with a terrific price.
A wonderful bicycle! Set-up was straight forward and easy. Little adjustment needed for the derailleur or brakes. Many hours of enjoyment already spent on the bike. A great family edition. Lots of fun to ride. The ride is very smooth and the gear shift is very precise.
I am an avid bike rider. I ride many miles on my road bike and my hybrid so I was a little apprehensive about a less expensive tandem bike. I must say it has lived up to my expectations. It was easy to assemble and performs quite well. The shifting is a little rough, but acceptable, especially in this price range.
Also buy of Kent Dual Drive Tandem bike is a great deal. The local bike shops had much more expensive bikes. They were also not as good looking as this bike. The bike came with the front wheel, seats and the handle bars off, so very little assembly was needed. Riding this bike is not hard at all compared to a regular mountain bike. You don’t have to paddle it hard for it to move fast enough. The extra person on the back does not seem affect much the handling.
Kent Dual Drive Tandem is not a professional quality or expensive bike…it is much better quality than most entry level bikes being sold out there today and holds up well over time. Still extremely pleased with this purchase. Smooth ride, great look, holds up well over time. So if you’re interested in all the benefits of tandem biking and need a bike to start you off, you can’t go wrong with this one. Great bike for the money!
